Session 1
Grown by God Through the Gospel (15:59)

In this first video session Pastor Mason starts us on our journey by helping us understand how the gospel grows us in Christlikeness through the power of the Holy Spirit. We all have our view of salvation and its role in our lives, but Pastor Mason helps us expand that view by explaining that the gospel speaks into every aspect of our lives throughout our lifetimes, not just at the beginning of our journey. This journey is a continuous one, begun by God in the gospel, sustained by God in the gospel, and completed by God in the gospel.

Session 2
Faith and Repentance (19:29)
If you remove a few key ingredients from the message of salvation you quickly walk away from the true gospel of Jesus Christ. Faith and repentance are two of those ingredients. Without them the gospel takes on a very different, unbiblical shape. Our faith is vulnerable to distortion if it doesn’t incorporate biblical repentance. In this second session we’ll hear Pastor Mason discuss the relationship between faith and repentance, highlighting the way those two ingredients work together for our sanctification.

Session 3
The Role of Suffering in Sanctification (27:06)
Suffering is a common obstacle to faith. People who don’t know God can have difficulty reconciling suffering with the idea of a God who loves us. Suffering is also a primary catalyst for doubt among believers because we tend to feel that if we’re faithful to God, He should be faithful to us and shelter us from suffering. We’re tempted to think God doesn’t love us or is punishing us if we go through a season of suffering. The pain of our trial clouds our ability to see God clearly, making it difficult for us to comprehend the possibility that He might have a purpose for our pain. In this session Pastor Mason talk about the role of suffering in our spiritual lives. We’ll see that suffering plays a critical role in our sanctification, especially if we’re willing to trust God through the process and submit to His refining work.

Session 4
Grown by the Word of God (15:18)
Bible reading is on the decline today. This phenomenon has been observed by pastors, Christian college professors, and research organizations that study trends in the church. In previous generations most Christians were equipped with a basic level of biblical knowledge. A general familiarity with Scripture came with faith in Christ—a knowledge passed on by parents to their children, as well as through the church. This general familiarity with the Bible is no longer commonplace. Regardless of the reasons for this decline in biblical engagement, the importance of regularly reading Scripture remains as crucial as ever for those of us who follow Christ. In this session Pastor Mason talk about the importance of reading God’s Word to further our sanctification. It’s the foundational spiritual discipline from which all others derive, and its importance can’t be overstated.

Session 5
Grown Through Prayer (18:34)
Prayer is one of those disciplines we all struggle with. Every Christian agrees we should pray. Most Christians want to have a vibrant prayer life, even if they struggle to develop one. But most of us have difficulty prioritizing prayer in our lives and establishing a workable, meaningful habit of prayer. Our general lack of consistency in our prayer lives reveals that many of us don’t understand the function of prayer and the ways God uses prayer to grow us in intimacy with Him and in ever-increasing likeness to Jesus. In this session Pastor Mason discuss the important subject of prayer and the way God uses our prayer lives to sanctify us. He will bring clarity to God’s desires for our prayer lives and will help us calibrate our view of prayer to the biblical ideal.

Session 6
Overcoming Strongholds (20:10)
In the Old Testament the people of Israel often struggled with idolatry, worshiping other gods instead of the one true God who’d saved them from slavery in Egypt. The people built altars to these other gods, and these strongholds stood as physical monuments to ideologies that were opposed to God. Although we as Christians don’t worship other gods or goddesses at physical altars today, we’re vulnerable to the same sorts of alternative mindsets and value systems that stand opposed to Christ. These mindsets and value systems are strongholds, and they can warp our view of God and impair our ability to follow Christ and maintain a biblical view of the world. Strongholds are much bigger than any individual sin because they permeate our minds and skew our thinking about who God is and about His will for our lives. In this final session Pastor Mason describe the nature of strongholds and explain how we
