On a trip to the Himalayan mountains, David Platt was confronted with staggering physical and spiritual needs unlike any he had ever seen. On leaving, Platt found himself asking fundamental questions about his life and ministry. He realized that something needed to change. 

Being confronted with suffering causes us to ask questions that, if we are honest, we would rather ignore. However, if we believe the Bible, ignorance of profound human need is not an option for us. Neither is indifference. We cannot be Christians and turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to the world in need around us. If those responses become the commentary of our lives and our churches, then one fact will be abundantly clear: We were not following Jesus on our journey through this life. 

What does it mean to follow Jesus in a world filled with urgent physical and spiritual needs? In this teen Bible study, David Platt explores that question as he takes you on a life-altering trek through the Himalayas.

People die every day from preventable disease, young girls are trafficked into sex slavery, and most people have never even heard the name of Jesus. How should Christians respond to needs like this? This session begins to answer that question.

• Session 2: Physical Need [19:21]—In this session, David Platt examines what it means to follow Christ in a world full of urgent physical need. We’ll hear gut-wrenching stories of desperate need in mountain villages. Together, we’ll think about a gospel response to physical needs at home and around the world.
• Session 3: Preview [1:24]—Author David Platt introduces Session 3 of Something Needs to Change.
• Session 3: Spiritual Need [19:48]—David Platt shifts focus from physical needs to urgent spiritual needs. Billions of people around the globe have little or no access to the gospel. Many live and die without ever hearing the name of Jesus. While physical needs are urgent, spiritual needs are ultimate.

• Session 4: Loving God and Others [17:09]—In this session, David Platt addresses how we should live in a world filled with urgent physical and spiritual needs. The answer is surprisingly simple: live with undivided love for God and unselfish love for others.

• Session 5: Opportunities [18:22]—Once we’re clear that following Jesus means we’re committing ourselves to love God absolutely and others unselfishly, we can turn our attention to the avenues God has given us to live out that calling. Every person has God-given skills, training, talents, abilities, and passions. In this session, David Platt encourages us to leverage the gifts and talents God has given us to spread His glory among the nations.
