Are you new to women's ministry? Come join us if you have been serving your local women's ministry 3 years or less in a leadership role. Essentials is a regional, free, one-day event hosted by the Lifeway Women's training team in locations across the country! It's a day chock full of strategy, insight, collaboration, and community. It's a great way to connect with other women's ministry leaders in your area and with the new and important ideas for leading women's ministry this season.
Essentials offers thought leadership that is designed to help you evaluate your current ministry plan, understand key elements of healthy women’s ministry, and develop a solid and effective ministry vision and a plan that is both ready to implement and easy to communicate. No matter what your ministry looks like, Essentials is for you! Spots are limited to one person per church.

March Speakers

Rachel Lovingood
Rachel has been doing ministry with her husband, Jeff, for 30 years and they have 5 grown children. She is an author and teacher with a knack for teaching biblical truths in a simple, fun, relevant way so that they can be applied to everyday life. Her passion is to see lives transformed by the Word of God which happens when Scripture is applied to our lives. Rachel serves as a Women’s Ministry leader at her home church of FBC Cleveland in TN.

Dawn Stephens
Dawn has been involved in women’s ministry in both volunteer and staff positions for many years. She is the Women’s Minister at The Church at Brook Hills in Birmingham, Alabama. Her desire is to train, equip, and encourage women to use their God-given gifts and abilities to show Christ’s love and grace to our world. She graduated from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary Women’s Ministry certificate program, has served on the Alabama Baptist State Women’s Ministry leadership team, and serves as a Lifeway Women Trainer. She is a contributing author to Transformed Lives Taking Women’s Ministry to the Next Level. She is married to Greg and has one son, Tyler. They make their home in Birmingham, Alabama.

Kelly D. King
Kelly King is the women’s minister at Quail Springs Baptist Church in Oklahoma City and she also serves as an Assistant Professor of Christian Ministry at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. She previously served as the manager of Magazines/Devotional Publishing and Women’s Ministry Training for Lifeway Christian Resources. She is the author of Ministry to Women: The Essential Guide to Leading Women in the Local Church. She enjoys equipping women for God's calling on their life and cheering them on in the process.

Anne Harrison
Anne Harrison is passionate about connecting women with the God Who loves their souls, with Scripture, and with other women who will encourage them to grow and flourish. She and her husband, Jim, have three sons and a beautiful daughter-in-law! Anne is a graduate of Texas A&M University, holds a Masters in Ministry to Women from SEBTS, and is currently pursuing a doctorate in Educational Ministry from Dallas Theological Seminary. She loves the local church and served as the Director of Women’s Ministries at First Baptist Church, Wichita Falls, Texas for over a decade. She currently serves on the Lifeway Women’s Event Team, simulcast team, and as a Lifeway trainer. Some of her favorite things include taking long naps on rainy days, short naps on sunny days, and enjoying a cold-brew coffee every day.

Kathy Howard
Kathy Howard is a treasure hunter. She hunts for the creamiest chocolate and richest coffee. She searches for cherished stories of faith that still impact hearts. Kathy also digs deep into God’s Word, mining His eternal truths for herself and to share with others. With more than 30 years of experience, Kathy has taught in dozens of states, internationally, and in a wide range of venues including multi-church conferences and large online events. She has a Masters of Christian Education and a certificate in Women’s Ministry from the Canadian Baptist Theological Seminary. Kathy is the author of 15 books, including five Bible studies, the Deep Rooted devotional series and Heirloom: Living and Leaving a Legacy of Faith. She also serves on the Lifeway Women Ministry Training Team. Kathy and her husband live in the Dallas/Ft Worth area near family. They have three married children and six grandchildren. Kathy provides free discipleship resources and blogs regularly at kathyhoward.org.

Heather Johnson
Heather Johnson is an educator, writer, and Bible teacher. She serves as the Assistant Director for Thrive, A Ministry Wives Certificate and the Women’s Life Coordinator at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and Leavell College and teaches high school. Heather leads small groups, provides discipleship and mentoring for women, and writes Bible study curriculum. Heather is a pastor’s wife and has served alongside her husband, Mark Johnson, for over 27 years. She is currently a senior resident in the Ph.D. program for Christian Education and she and her husband enjoy life serving the local church and parenting their four children in New Orleans, LA.
