In the book of John, we read the miraculous story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. As Jesus called to his friend, Lazarus rose from his grave, breathing, moving—fully alive—yet still bound by the clothes he was buried in. Is it possible that, like Lazarus, we too are still bound in our grave clothes? Held back by fear, or pride, or shame. Wrapped up in sin, or hurt, or anger, or unforgiveness. Grave clothes are anything that hold us back from everything God has for us. This describes many believers today—alive in Christ but still bound.

Ryan McDermott is passionate about preaching the gospel of Jesus, helping students be brave enough to believe they can change the world, and training the next generation of church leaders. He has an undergraduate degree in Christian Leadership from Palm Beach Atlantic University and a Master’s degree in Ministerial Leadership from Southeastern University. Ryan has over seventeen years of experience serving students in the local church. Currently, he serves as the Executive Director of Family Ministry at Christ Fellowship Church, a non-denominational multi-site church with locations all across South Florida. Ryan lives in West Palm Beach, Florida, with his wife Christine and their two children, Declan and Kinley.
