True God from True God

The Christian faith has been shaped for seventeen centuries by the words of the Nicene Creed. But what does this ancient confession have to say to Southern Baptists and evangelicals today—in their doctrine, their churches, and their ministry?

In True God from True God: A Baptist Celebration of the Nicene Creed, editors Cameron Schweitzer and Ryan Rippee gather a diverse group of scholars to demonstrate the enduring relevance of Nicene thought for Baptist faith and practice. In an introductory movement, contributors ground the Creed in biblical and historical foundations. Subsequent movements of the book unfold the Creed’s relevance to key doctrines and practices such as:

• Paterology and Christology

• Baptism and prayer

• Apologetics

• Missions and church planting

• Preaching and pastoral ministry

• Youth ministry and worship

Readers of True God from True God will benefit from this rigorous, historically grounded, and practically oriented assessment of the enduring value of the Nicene Creed for evangelical Baptists in the 21st century.
