We want to go to our Father with open hands and ask what He wants for our holidays, making room for less chaos and more Jesus. We have to trust that God, who foreknew and predestined us, wants our holidays to honor Him, His Son, and the Spirit.
So what is it? What’s the one thing that will shift your whole Christmas from being a whirlwind? Focus and prioritize your own walk with God.
This year can and will be different. We can live with intention during these long days, knowing that the years will fly by. It’s possible to have a Thanksgiving season filled with gratitude.
Above all else, remember this is a season to reflect and then celebrate. Jesus lived a perfect life, He died for our sins, and He rose again, defeating death and giving us new life in Him!
My greatest advice to you, is to ask the Lord what Christmas should look like for you. Remember that you are forming a sacred way and that won’t happen overnight and be done perfectly in one season. One baby step at a time, one year after another.
This is why I love Halloween and love for Christians to open their doors on this day: it is the one day of the year your neighbors knock on your door! Let’s be there to open it! One of our greatest commandments is to love our neighbors (Mark 12:30–31).
