“What we do in life echoes in eternity.” Maximus, Gladiator
My pastor recently was teaching through the values of our church, casting the vision of who we are as a local body of believers. This particular week he was focusing on ‘compassion’. Because of our sin, Jesus in great compassion and grace have rescued us. That is the gospel. And because of this we rescue others because we ourselves have been rescued from our own sin.
He paused and said there is a universal response from every person who goes to the movies and watches the trailers before the movie. No matter where you are in the world or what language you speak, once you watch the trailer for a movie it is human nature to turn to your friends and either say, “that looks like a waste of time,” OR “that looks awesome.”
The church, the people of God, are the movie trailer for the kingdom of God. The world either looks at the church and says “what a waste of time” or “that looks awesome”.
Is our church, is your life a movie trailer for the kingdom of God? Do people see your life, do they see our church and say “that looks like a waste of time” OR are they saying “that looks awesome”?
