Week 1: God on Mute:
What do we do when God seems silent? (22:33)

In session 1 of Unanswered, Jeremiah Johnston opens by talking about the tough questions being asked about Christianity, both inside and outside the church. If we are honest, we as believers sometimes struggle to understand the salient issues of our faith and explain them to our friends who want answers to difficult questions. He discusses the purpose in this six-session study—to be equipped, as thoughtful ambassadors of Jesus, to respond to tough questions in a way that attracts people to the truth of Jesus Christ and the Word of God. And he begins with one of the toughest questions: What do we do when God seems silent?

Week 2: Body of Proof:
Why can we trust in the bodily resurrection of Jesus? (19:03)

In this session, Jeremiah discusses how the resurrection of Jesus Christ is the seminal issue for the church today, even as it was that first Easter in the first century. There is nothing more important for a Christian than Jesus’ resurrection. Yet it assumes a heavy burden of proof. Unfortunately, the most important fact of the Christian faith is also the most misunderstood. Most followers of Jesus have a woefully inadequate understanding of Jesus’ resurrection. In this session, Jeremiah tries to change that.

Week 3: Paranormal: the New Normal:
How should Christians respond to spiritual darkness and paranormal activity? (21:19)

In session 3 of Unanswered, Jeremiah talks about the cultural obsession with the paranormal and the dangers it presents. Paranormal entertainment, psychic fairs, ghost stories and countless other expressions of paranormal involvement have commanded our bookstores and TV, computer, and movie screens. The purpose of this session is to make us aware of how demons work in our lives and in the world so that we can avoid giving them a foothold

Week 4: The Best Seller Nobody Reads:
How can I know for sure the Bible is true and trustworthy? (20:53)

In this session, Jeremiah warns of biblically illiteracy and theological shallowness in our churches today. As Christians, we need to understand the reality of biblical illiteracy, first in our own lives and families but also in the church. Then we need to ask God for a revival of interest and commitment to the Holy Scriptures. There is work to be done, and that is why this week’s study is so important.

Week 5: Invisible Illness:
What should Christians understand about suicide and mental health? (22:37)

In this session Jeremiah addresses two topics of great consequence to us as humans and especially as Christ’s church: suicide and mental illness. The church has generally avoided conversations at the intersection of faith, suicide, and mental illness. Suicide has reached epidemic levels. Yet suicide is preventable. Unfortunately, most people do not know where to start. It is time to ask ourselves: what would Christ want us to do??

Week 6: Pain Tolerance
Why do we experience suffering and pain? (20:51)

Perhaps the most prevalent unanswered question people have today is the question of tragedy, pain, and suffering. As Christian thinkers, we must be prepared to answer these types of questions. In this last session of Unanswered, Jeremiah discusses how do we answer the unanswered questions of suffering in our own minds, as well as those of our family, friends, and coworkers.
