Session 1: The Problem [9:16]
Reading a story like the prodigal son, it may be tempting to think, “I would never do that.” But at some point, we all doubt the love of our Father. The temptation for the far country exists for all of us. If it doesn’t right now, it will in the future. In this session, Pastor Matt Carter helps us see that no matter how far we roam, the best life is found in the love of the Father.
Session 2: The Lie [9:09]
In this session, Pastor Matt Carter looks at the lie that led the prodigal (and us) to wander from home. All sin begins with a false belief. In order to To pursue sin, we have to believe the lie that sin worth disobeying God. There are two primary reasons we buy the lie: our sinful nature and the devil.
Session 3: The Step [9:15]
This week the prodigal steps into sin. Every sin has a beginning. On the front end, sin always looks enticing, fun, satisfying and pleasurable. But sin will always take you to places you never intended to go. Last session we considered the origin of sin. in this session, Pastor Matt Carter examines what happens when we take the step into sin.
Session 4: The Consequences [9:40]
No one would choose to do something wrong if they knew what lay at the end of their decision. The prodigal would have never asked his father for his inheritance if he understood the consequences that awaited him on his journey. Before he requested his inheritance, the far country beamed with the promises of a better life. In this session, Pastor Matt Carter looks at what the prodigal found waiting for him at the end of the road.
Session 5: The Realization [9:37].
Everything the prodigal thought would bring him happiness had produced pain and misery he never could’ve imagined. The prodigal had a wake up call and realized he should’ve never left his father in the first place. In this session, Pastor Matt Carter teaches about what happens in the life of a Christian when they realize they are living in sin and disobedience.
Session 6: The Speech [10:06]
After the prodigal realized he made a big mistake, he resolved to head back home to his father. This week the prodigal wrestles with what he will say to his father when he returns. In this session Pastor Matt Carter teaches through the speech the young prodigal prepared as he began his trek down the road home.
Session 7: The Return [11:46]
The prodigal has taken off to a faraway land, been impoverished by sin, and has prepared a speech to beg his father’s forgiveness. He's on the way home. This week, as the prodigal continues on the road home, Pastor Matt Carter deals with some of the barriers we build up in our minds and hearts that keep us from coming home to God.
Session 8: The Reunion [10:01]
In this session Pastor Matt Carter completes our journey through the Prodigal Son. The young man is rounding the last bend to the house, and he can see it now in the distance. The house, the front porch. Then he sees something he couldd've never expected. Still in the distance, waiting on the front porch is his father running towards him to welcome him home.
