Group Study Guide
Session: Children with Special Needs
Preparation
- Gather paper and pencils.
- Cut 5 slips of paper. Write the name of each one of the following groups
of children on a slip:
- Children with mental retardation
- Children with learning disabilities
- Children in emotional conflict
- Children with AD(H)D
- Children with physical or health differences
Reflect and Practice
- Open the session with fellowship and prayer.
- Organize participants into five groups. If your group is small, do this
exercise as one group. Offer each group the opportunity to pick one of the
five slips of paper. Ask each group to create a game for the total group to
play to help participants learn about the group of children on their slip
of paper. Refer them to the article. Offer paper and pencils.
- When the games are ready, bring the total group together. Play the games
in any order. Follow each game with an opportunity to discuss specific children
in their groups.
- Close the session with a time of prayer for these children. Remind your
participants to read the article(s) for the next session
