I am a Tuba player, and I am very disappointed with the Tuba parts in this new hymnal. I waited with great anticipation of the new hymnal due to the inclusion of all of the new Praise and Worship songs, but was very let down when I actually saw the orchestrations. It is almost like the Tuba was an after thought, almost like "Oh, we need to make a Tuba part, let''s just give it a couple of notes here and a couple of notes there." We played out of it for the first time this past Sunday, and in two of the songs I had a grand total of 8 and 16 notes respetively. I have played in our Church Orchestra for 25 years, and have enjoyed every moment of it. Don''t know if I will enjoy only playing 8 and 16 notes a song. You really could have done a much better job.
