Comparing Yourself With Others

For it is not the one commending himself who is approved, but the one the Lord commends.
2 Corinthians 10:18, Holman Christian Standard Bible

You may feel as though you know next to nothing about Christ. But so did everybody when they first started down this road -- even the ones who can pray like they’re six inches from heaven. Even the ones who can wow you with their grasp of biblical wisdom and insight. Even the ones who can sing chills down people’s spines in a worship service or who rarely come off a business trip without a new convert under each arm.

But you need to know this: God is always more pleased with folks who are faithful than with those who can draw a crowd.

And another thing: God’s invested time and talents in you that He’s just now starting to use. And as you yield them to His service -- whether you get any recognition or not -- you’ll begin steadily growing into the ministry He wants you to perform.

God’s putting a whole team together in your town or city to take His love and salvation to every person who’ll listen. It’s going to take all of you working together, combining your callings and pooling your abilities. So start practicing your part. Your piece is as important as anybody’s.
