Capital Stewardship - Door to the FutureChurch capital campaigns were once "one size fits all." At LifeWay we realize every church is different. After we developed Bridge to Tomorrow for the small church, there was still a need for the church that had outgrown the small church program, but might not be ready for the premier programs. Out of this need came Door to the Future.

This campaign resembles our Together We Build campaign in principle, but the approach is different. Door to the Future is designed for churches with an annual budget income of less than $500,000. This enables us to build a campaign suited for those specific churches both in size and projected need.

Remember: Capital Stewardship isn’t just for buildings. Sometimes the need is for renovations, debt reduction, new church starts, satellite ministries, and even acquiring new property. LifeWay Capital Stewardship can assist you with just about any God-inspired goal.

Seven Principles of Door to the Future

The Door to the Future campaign is built on seven principles that help make this strategy effective for the median church:

  1. The Principle of Prayer
  2. The Principle of Sacrifice
  3. The Principle of Communication
  4. The Principle of Maximum Involvement
  5. The Principle of Prior Commitment
  6. The Principle of Sharing
  7. The Principle of Giving

Raising funds for special projects such as new construction, renovation or debt retirement can be a positive and exciting time in the life of the church. The principles of Door to the Future will assist in moving your church to the next level of God’s vision for you.

The Approach of Door to the Future

  • Planning for Next Level
Our consultant will work with the Leadership Team you select to train them to lead your people on this spiritual journey. The consultant will be on site multiple times and be available for email and phone support.
  • Build a Spiritual Foundation
Saying a program is biblically based is not enough. The role of Scripture and prayer in this process is key to the success. Each of us are on a spiritual journey. Some are closer than others, but we all need to grow in Christ. Door to the Future will lead your congregation to do just that.
  • Inform and Challenge
Next to prayer, few considerations are more important than clear communication. People tend to not give when they do not understand the goals or vision. As they begin to see what is on the other side of the door to the future they will invest themselves and their resources. Our trained consultants place strong emphasis on educating and involving the entire church family through specific, targeted communications.
  • Follow-Through
It is one thing to get a commitment. It is an entirely different thing to receive the gift. Your LifeWay consultant is trained to help your church move toward that vision and continue to give opportunities to those who are not able to give at the moment and to those new families who will come into the church. In each of the campaigns there is a major emphasis on follow up.

The Features of Door to the Future

  1. Building the Organization
The consultant will guide you in selecting a Leadership Team. The team will be trained and then enlist others to help carry out the responsibilities of their team.
  2. Prayer Support
Early in the program, prayer leaders are enlisted and trained. Their role is to share information, introduce the campaign, and lead in a church wide prayer effort.
  3. Communications
Promotional mailings, sermons, testimonies, a special Bible study, advance commitment, commitment enlistment, and training will be conducted over a four-week period leading up to the Special Event. This element is critical to inform, challenge, and build a spirit of togetherness and sacrifice.
  4. Special Event
The church will provide a quality Special Event, climaxing the four-week major communications thrust. It is a time of sharing information, worship, inspiration, and fellowship.
  5. Commitment
Families are invited to make a three year commitment to the campaign following the event.
  6. Follow-Up
Near the end of the program, a follow-up organization is enlisted and trained. This group functions during the next three years, encouraging faithfulness in completing commitments and involving new members as they are added to the church.
