iLumina Gold Now Available

Written by Staff

The use of computers to convey the Word continues to reach new levels. From the time PCs were introduced in the mid-1980s, there have been numerous ways Scripture has been communicated via technology.

One recent example is iLumina, a software program from Tyndale House Publishers. iLumina includes narrated and musically scored animations that bring an exciting multimedia aspect to Bible stories. Other interactive components make this software what one reviewer has called, “a work of art.”

iLumina is part of a vision to digitally animate the entire Bible. Introduced in late 2002, the software is now in its second version offering virtual tours of the first century Jerusalem, thousands of articles, maps, timelines and other materials. Developers believe these electronic features make the Bible more approachable for families.

This second version, iLumina Gold, was launched in October, 2003. According to a Tyndale press release, iLumina Gold is compatible on both Windows and Mac, in both CD-ROM and DVD formats, and at speeds 400 times faster than the original iLumina. An upgrade version is also available for current users of iLumina.

Enhancements include new Bible story animations, unique guided virtual tours of the Holy Land, church and classroom presentation features and more. In fact, a full-screen display mode can be set up so images can be projected for a Bible study class or during a sermon.
