In this article, we'll look at printing and distributing newsletters.
Printing Tips
Depending on available finances, you may choose from several ways to produce your newsletter:
-
produce an original on a computer and copy on the church office copier (the least expensive method);
-
produce an original and have it copied at a copy center (moderately costly);
-
produce an original, or submit it on computer disk, and have it produced by a professional printer (the most expensive choice); or
-
one other alternative: a church member who has a business copier and donates access to the copier (free!).
Do a little homework before committing to one approach or another. Costs will vary according to the frequency of your newsletter, type of paper you choose, color versus black-and-white copies, the printer you may use, and so forth.
Distribution Tips
Try a few different methods to get your newsletter into the hands of the women in your church or community:
Mail the newsletters out. They may be:
-
copied, folded, and mailed by volunteers (get advice from the Post Office about regulations that apply);
-
copied and taken to a bulk mailer for folding and mailing; or
-
printed, folded, and mailed by a professional printer and bulk mailer.
Give them out at church. They may be distributed:
-
through Sunday School classes, Bible study groups, and so forth;
-
placed in a central location for pickup (Hanging acrylic magazine rack in high-traffic areas display the newsletters neatly; or they may be placed on tables in foyers, welcome center, etc.); and/or
-
at other special events or gatherings where you know women will be.
Whether you're putting your newsletter together yourself or you have a publicity team ready to run with the idea, your newsletter can be a powerful communication tool for your women's ministry. Don't be afraid to try new things with it, and watch God work through your efforts.
