Reader Comments:

Is there a commentary to go with the Bible Studies for Life series as there is in the Explore the Bible series? Two of our ladies classes are trying Life Ventures next quarter and would like a commentary if there is one available.

jmonette: LifeWay publishes a separate commentary for all the Bible Studies for Life products, including Life Ventures. The BSfL Advanced Bible Study Commentary is compatible with every volume in the BSfL teaching line because it uses the same Scriptures as each weekly lesson in the Leader and Learner Guides. It uses the Holman Christian Standard Bible as its translation. You can shop for it here.

If you prefer the King James Version, the Herschel Hobbs Commentary contains essentially the same content as the Advanced product, but uses the KJV instead. You can shop for the Hobbs Commentary here. (~Ed.)

Regarding Bible Studies for Life audio: We do not offer a product at this time. If you need a Sunday School curriculum with an audio option, we recommend Explore the Bible. You can purchase the audio version of this product here. (~Ed.)

In the Spring 2009 issue of Life Ventures, in Nehemiah 4:6, on p. 34, the word "height" is in parentheses. Other words are noted the same way. I just wanted to know why the parentheses?

Regarding your question about words in Scripture printed in parentheses: In the Holman Christian Standard Bible the translators sometimes place words in brackets - such as [height] in Nehemiah 4:6 - to indicate a word that does not appear in the manuscript but that has been added to increase clarity in the English. The translators understand to the best of their ability that this word would have been understood to be read at the time the manuscripts were created. This is not an instance of translators adding new words into the text that were not there before. (-Ed.)

Does the Leader Pack include the Leader Guide or would both need to be purchased?

For homebound students (and others) are there any audio versions of the Life Ventures SS lessons?
