Introducing His Girl
Monday morning 10:30 a.m. It’s not even noon, Cari is already in tears. Her battle began before she ever got to school as she looked at herself in the mirror. Enter His Girl: A Bible Study for Teen Girls. This eight-week Bible study is aimed at helping teen girls discover biblical truths to guide them through six major battles they face: conformity, true self-esteem, purity, modesty, boys, and girl politics. And it seeks to accomplish through a much-loved teen girl medium—a magazine. The His Girl student book is actually a magazine, filled with hundreds of photos and illustrations. True to this genre, it contains articles, advice columns, and quizzes. But this magazine is unique because girls will use it during the six-week Bible study, not just at home or at school.
When they meet together as a group at church or in a home, they’ll also be able to watch video segments featuring young women speak from their hearts about these issues. They’ll also hear interviews from teen girls just like them as they talk about dealing with everything from girl politics to self-esteem.
For Moms
His Girl is unique in one other way—its companion piece for moms. Your Girl: A Bible Study for Mothers of Teens discusses the same issues as His Girl, but from a mother’s perspective. Its goal is to equip and empower mothers of teens to help their daughters navigate these troubling waters. This Bible study also contains a video element, featuring popular speaker and author Vicki Courtney, whose book Your Girl: Raising a Godly Daughter in an Ungodly World, is the basis for both the teen and mom’s study. Mothers and daughters won’t meet together to do the study, but will be provided some talking points so they can have a beginning point for discussion later on as conversations naturally take place.
