Husband, Date Your Wife Regularly

Written by Stand Firm

Love never fails. (1 Corinthians 13:8)

Where is the Love?

Is your wife among those who echo the popular song of the early 70's, "Where is the Love?" Remember the early days, when you went to great lengths to get that first date and celebrated each one thereafter. Has complacency set in, even indifference?

The letter to the church at Ephesus in Revelation 2:1-7 reminds us how important it is to keep your first love alight. The Lord had much to commend His followers for. "Yet, I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love." The way back home? "Repent and do the things you did at first."

A Twofold Challenge

So, this is a double challenge. If you're not doing so already, make and keep a regular appointment with God. The psalmist says: "In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation" (Psalm 5:3).

Also, if you're married, you need to keep a regular appointment with your wife. Nurture your marriage relationship with a regular "date," either a day or evening activity at least once a month. Yes, it'll take some orchestration on your part, perhaps even to convince her you're serious! But a regular date will serve as hedge against indifference in your marriage. When we love as God does, we find a love that never fails.(1 Corinthians 13:8).

Bottom Line

Ask your wife on a date. Be creative.
