"I took my 14-year-old son and his friends to see FACING THE GIANTS and we can't wait to see it again. What an exciting and inspiring experience! We all need to be reminded that integrity is greater than winning, that faith is greater than pride, and love overcomes all. Go see this movie now!"
Andy Chrisman, 4HIM Worship Pastor, Church on the Move Tulsa, Okla.
"Our church was blessed with the opportunity to sponsor several area high school football teams and their coaches. I have watched coaches and players weep as they realize for the first time the freedom and absolute exhilaration that comes from living your life to honor God! What a film! Before we saw the film, we only had one coach at our weekly Friday prayer breakfasts with the football team, but this morning we had 11 coaches there! God is truly at work all around us and His hand is on this film!
Rev. Seth Buckley Minister of Students, First Baptist Church Spartanburg, S.C.
"I am on staff at a church. My wife and I went to see FACING THE GIANTS last night. Just want to say AWESOME! My wife found out from a doctor just about a month ago that she is not able to have children, but gave her some medicine to try out. That's on top of all the other challenges that we face while serving on church staff and trying new things at our church. I just wanted you and your church to know that the movie really gave us peace about God's plan for our lives. We will praise Him when we win and praise Him when we lose! Thanks for being faithful to God's call!"
Kevin Miles First Baptist Church, Oak Grove, La.
"I saw the movie on opening night and was thoroughly impressed. At first I was wondering if it was going to be a cheezy film, but afterwards I came out having similar emotions as when I watched 'Remember the Titans.' The only difference was that I thought FACING THE GIANTS had an even better story to it when you consider the fact that God was at the center of everything: 'win or lose we praise and thank Him.' Plus, having Mark Richt made it even better! That was great!"
Kent Suter Cornerstone Bible Church - Lilburn, Ga.
"My church has a strong relationship with both FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) and AYSA (Abilene Youth Sports Authority). When I emailed our FCA guy about forming a Booster Club, he emailed me back within an hour with an underwriter guaranteeing the tickets. That was just the beginning. The morning after we had secured the date for the movie's opening, we had $10,000 in donations from several businesses for tickets for all coaches and their spouses to go see it. Things have continued to explode since then. We are seeing emails applauding FCA and AYSA for bringing FTG to Abilene. Churches are beginning to call us for vouchers for their youth group. AYSA is encouraging youth soccer teams to have a 'jersey' Saturday, where they all were their jerseys and see the show on a Saturday morning. These are elementary soccer teams. FCA and AYSA have sent a press release to every radio, television and newspaper in Abilene. FCA is holding their huge 'Fields of Faith' on Wednesday at our football stadium. They are expecting approximately 5,000 kids. They are going to promote FACING THE GIANTS there and put a ticket into the hand of every youth that makes a faith commitment. We believe this is all God's hand and we are just happy to be a part of it."
Mike Hill Associate Pastor, Beltway Park Family of Churches Abilene, Tex.
"AWESOME! I am not sure if there is another word to describe FACING THE GIANTS. Everyone in our family, from 7 years old to 40 years old, thought this movie was, as my son said, 'The Bomb.' Thank you for allowing God to use you to minister in an area that must be tough to get into. This movie will make a huge impact on the kingdom."
Jase Waller First Baptist Church - Seminole, Tex.
"We plan to take a group to see the movie. Then I was going to do a month-long series on slaying giants in our lives. The movie will be a great intro for us. Thanks for the film. I look forward to leading our people to greater faith in God and living a victorious life."
Panha Doeung Youth Pastor, First Chinese Baptist Church San Antonio, Tex.
"In Houston County, Georgia (Perry and Warner Robins) churches all over the county have purchased a ticket for every varsity high school football player in the county (450-500 players). So much money has been contributed toward this that our churches are beginning to buy tickets for middle school football players too. The coaches have worked well with us."
Johnny Ellison Pastor, Green Acres Baptist Church Warner Robins, Ga.
"We rented three theaters as FACING THE GIANTS opened. We had two showings for our Middle School and High School ministries. We asked our students to buy two tickets for two dollars and the only way they could come is if they brought a friend who did not know Christ. Our students have really gotten excited about this and we have sold out of 523 tickets for this showing.
"We also rented a theater of 276 seats out and have opened this one up to Little League football players and their families and have sold it out as well. We will be giving away as door prizes signed footballs by the entire Atlanta Falcons football team as well as a few signed jerseys.
"We are making this an evangelistic event and plan to share the gospel at all three showings. We are praying that God would arrest the hearts of teenagers and all the families of the little league football players and they would respond to the message of Christ and commit there lives to Him."
Jason Nave Evangelism Pastor, Blackshear Place Baptist Church Flowery Branch, Ga.
"FACING THE GIANTS is an impacting movie about the real life 'giants' that many people face. It shows real people facing real problems and finding the real answer!"
Dr. David L. Wilson Pastor, Southcrest Baptist Church Lubbock, Tex.
"I saw a pre-screening of the movie, and I must say that it may be the best movie I've ever seen. I think that it is awesome that a church would have a vision 'to reach the world through a movie screen.' We are renting out a 500-seat theater for a showing on Saturday, September 30. To date we have had 504 requests for FREE tickets. After the movie, I will have the awesome privilege and huge responsibility of sharing the gospel. We've invited each of the local high school and middle school teams to join us for 'team night at the movies.'
"We 'prayed for rain' and God has blessed us with a monsoon! Isn't God wonderful! Thank you for your vision and creativity to think outside the box. We know that God is getting ready to do something that we may not believe, even if we were told (Habakkuk 1:5). Thank you for the opportunity to partner with you in ministry!"
Nathan Waganer Minister to Students, Village Baptist Church Oklahoma City, Okla.
"After seeing the special preview showing in Macon, God laid it on my heart to purchase a ticket for every varsity football player, coach, and manager in our county. I shared this with Jeff Glenn, a local youth pastor who began praying with me. I asked a handful of people to pray about this ... the next day, I was handed a check for $1,000! Our church members have given well over $3,000, several other churches have adopted schools and our local Rehoboth Baptist Association is contributing $500. We have now purchased tickets for every varsity football player, coach, and manager at six area high schools and money keeps coming in! We have purchased tickets for three middle schools and will be able to do so for one or two more. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!! We are trusting God for great things!
Mike Dorough Youth Pastor, Second Baptist Church Warner Robins, Ga.
"FACING THE GIANTS not only has an incredible storyline, but it also gives you the truths of God's Word without being 'hokey.' It portrays Christians in real-life situations in a realistic manner. God does answer prayers in some pretty miraculous ways at times and that is part of what this is all about. "I also appreciated the fact that this was not done by professional actors and actresses. These are people from a small town in Georgia and God has opened the door for them to impact the mainstream market of movies. This is a must see for everyone."
Roger Palmer, National Director Jesus Focused Youth Ministry
"Facing the Giants is a modern David and Goliath film. In an age of cynicism, this film delivers inspiration in large doses and renews hope."
Ed Litton Pastor, First Baptist Church North Mobile, Ala.
"Last January, God, in His providence, provided our Recreation Ministry with a generous monetary gift from an anonymous donor. The only stipulation for the gift was that it be used for ministry. As I prayed and processed in my mind how the money could be used, I knew that God wanted to do something beyond the purchase of fitness equipment and the like for our church's Christian Activities Center. I just did not know what God had in mind.
"Then, I had the opportunity to preview the movie at the Upward National Convention and it become crystal clear what a portion of the money was to be used for. Our church sponsors an Upward Flag Football League and I immediately knew that we were supposed to take some of the money and purchase tickets for our players, cheerleaders, and coaches. I probably would have stopped there, but God wasn't finished with the vision. He wanted us to go further and purchase tickets for parents, brothers, and sisters as well.
"From the beginning, I noticed on the website that the movie was only going to be released in Jackson, a city about 90 miles to our north. I knew that in order for me to be obedient to the call that God have given me we had to get the movie to Hattiesburg. So, I became the "persistent widow" and after several weeks of emailing the folks listed on the website, the vision became a reality as our church joined the booster club and agreed to purchase the 1000 tickets.
"So, on the Saturday of the opening weekend, the noon, 2:30 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. showings of the movie were sold out and somewhere between 800 and 900 children and their families were able to go free of charge. It was definitely a "ministry highlight" for me.
"But, God was not finished. We were able to purchase 110 tickets so that the coaches and players of one of our area high schools could attend the movie. What an incredible opportunity for us to make a positive investment in the lives of these kids.
"As far as our Upward program goes, the movie will be a part of the process we use to share and show the love of Christ to our players, cheerleaders, and families. I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your faithfulness to take a risk in making the movie and to share another of what has to be thousands of stories of how God has allowed your faithfulness to be a blessing to others."
Eddie Baker Recreation Pastor, Temple Baptist Church Hattiesburg, Miss.
"We invited my son's best friend to go see the movie with us on Sunday night. This friend, who is 11, was just diagnosed on Friday with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He was especially quiet and withdrawn before the movie, understandably very scared and upset. After seeing the movie, it was quite obvious that he felt much better. He began talking, began joking, and playing. My son told me later that his friend had not acted that way since he had had the initial surgery the week before to remove the suspicious lump, which ultimately turned out to be cancer. We attribute this boy's positive response to the hope and encouragement he felt from the movie. The movie gave him an obvious boost and we are grateful that for a little while he forgot about his illness, and received encouragement and happiness. We know it will be a long, difficult journey for him as he begins treatment, but we are hopeful that a video of FACING THE GIANTS will be released soon so we can get it for him."
"I am the pastor of a church. I have been following FACING THE GIANTS since my wife heard about it on the radio a couple of months ago. My dad has been a pastor for more than 20 years. He had never heard about the movie, so Friday night I took him to the opening night. I knew the movie would be good, but I would use two words to describe it: moving and powerful. My father and I sat there and laughed, wiped tears from our eyes, and rejoiced at the different storylines and plots in the movie. You guys did an awesome job on this film. I got my youth pastor to get our teens and their friends together Sunday night and they went and saw the movie. I took my wife and saw it a second time. She cried because we prayed for so long to have a child and God gave us that child last year."
