Movies As Ministry

In recent years, movies have become effective ministry tools.  From the use of clips as sermon illustrations to utilizing movies with spiritual underpinnings for evangelism or spiritual encouragement, movies are a relevant way to meet people where they are... at the Cineplex.

Films like The Passion of the Christ, The Chronicles of Narnia, and The End of the Spear have brought biblical themes - and Christian audiences - to movie theaters.

Hollywood studios review thousands of scripts written by professional screenwriters each year, but only 250 ever make it to the big screen.  Facing the Giants was written by a pair of associate pastors and produced by their church in Georgia as a creative venture to reach the world for Christ.

When seasoned execs from Sony Pictures and Provident Films saw Facing the Giants, they knew they had a winner!  Interweaving biblical truths, humor, and football action, this movie presents the Christian faith in a realistic - and positive - way.  Facing the Giants is a feel-great family movie that will have audiences cheering the football action... and the impact of God on the lives of the coaches and players.

Facing the Giants releases in theaters across America the weekend of September 29.  Among the movie's overarching themes, all based on Scripture:
