Why Be a Simulcast Host Church?
What if you could unite the churches in your community to reach out together in the name of Christ? What if you could fill your seats with women of different denominations and women who had never entered the walls of a church? With enthusiasm, prayer, and a satellite dish, Linda David, a Living Proof Life Simulcast host church coordinator in Albany, OR, did just that. In a letter to LifeWay’s Simulcast Coordinator, Patricia Murphy, Linda wrote:
“We are over 700 now in ticket sales with 56 churches participating and 22 different denominations. We have everything from Baptist to Roman Catholic to Menonnite attending! Yesterday we stuffed 750 snack boxes and Thursday we will stuff 750 "goodie" bags for each attendee. We are expecting great things from our God this weekend. Bless you for everything you do and have done!”
Testimonials like this came in from across the country about LifeWay’s 2008 Living Proof Live simulcast event with Beth Moore and Travis Cottrell. Some 95,000 attendees joined together from 715 churches across the country and at our live site in Louisville, KY. Across the nation there were hundreds of decisions to receive Christ as Savior with the youngest being a 6-year-old girl and the oldest (reported) of an 89-year-old woman.
“Stories like Linda’s should be more prevalent in 2009 due to our new flat-fee pricing structure,” said Paige Greene, director of women’s training and events at LifeWay. “We listened to the churches last year who asked us to do away with the more expensive ticket-based pricing model and are going with one flat fee. Churches will be able to afford to fill their buildings with women who can worship together and hear the Word of God. It will have great potential for outreach for churches within their communities to reach the lost and unchurched.”
LifeWay opened registration for their 2009 Living Proof Live Simulcast with Beth Moore on January 16. The live event and satellite broadcast will take place from Green Bay, WI, on Aug. 28-29, 2009.
“Beth was actually born in Green Bay so we are really taking her ‘home’ in a sense. Via satellite, churches from across the country can literally bring her home to their church,” said Paige. “It is going to be an incredible weekend. We even gave Beth a Wisconsin cheese head hat in honor of her return!”
In her 2008 post-event evaluation Melissa Carroll of The Chapel in Sandusky, OH, said, “What a mind-boggling experience to worship our Lord and Savior with some 70,000 (actually 95,000) other women at the same time with Beth and Travis at the helm leading our worship to Him. Words can not begin to describe the thrill of it all. We love you Lord Jesus! We had 17 women rededicate their lives!”
