Personnel of Church Architectural Services:
Gary E. Nicholson, AIA
(Architect)
Gary is an architect and director of LifeWay Church Architecture and Capital Stewardship. He has a background in both architecture and extensive church ministry experience. He has received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Gary is also a licensed Southern Baptist minister with ten years of church staff experience.
Gary made architecture his primary ministry in 1989. First working in his father's architecture firm in San Antonio, he came to Church Architecture in 1993. He sees his work as a ministry of working with churches throughout construction projects to help them make good decisions and navigate the entire process from deciding what to build, to the final punch list.
Gary has written several articles for periodicals and led numerous seminars and conferences for both church leaders and architects who work with churches. His years of experience, successfully working with hundreds of churches across the United States on projects ranging from small, first-unit buildings to hundred-acre church campuses gives him great insight to the special needs of churches.
Gary is married and has two grown children. He enjoys playing golf, gardening, traveling, video editing, and a wide range of musical interests.
