Personnel of Church Architectural Services:

John D. Burke, Ph.D.
(Coordinator, Capital Stewardship Services)

John came to LifeWay in 2002 to serve as a Senior Consultant for Capital Stewardship. In October, 2006, he assumed the position of Coordinator for the Capital Stewardship section of Church Architecture.

Previously, John has served as Pastor or Associate Pastor of churches in Tennessee and Kentucky. He has also served in private counseling and as an adjunct seminary professor in staff leadership. He has worked with churches in strategic planning, visioning and conflict management.

His educational journey includes a Bachelor of Science in Education from Union University, Jackson Tennessee, and a Master of Religious Education with an emphasis in Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky. After post graduate work at Southern and Trinity Seminaries, he received his Doctorate of Philosophy from Andersonville Seminary. His doctoral topic was “Conflict Management in the Local Church.”

John and his family are active members in their local church where John serves on the Missions Team and as a Deacon. He has written for “Preaching Magazine” and is the co-author of LifeWay’s newest Capital Stewardship guide. In his leisure time he enjoys time with his family, golf and woodworking.
