Continuing Education Units
LifeWay Christian Resources is an authorized training and development provider for granting
C.E.U. credit for biblical studies and Christian education through the internationally recognized organizations for standards and certification:
- A.C.S.I. (Association of Christian Schools International)
- I.A.C.E.T. (International Association for Continuing Education)

ASCI REQUIREMENTS
One CEU is designated in unique ways for each of the provider organizations.
- A.C.S.I. designates a C.E.U. requiring at least a minimum of 6 contact/classroom hours of participation.
A Contact Hour equals one 60 minute clock hour of interaction between learner and instructor or learner and organized material which have been prepared to cause learning (distance
learning program).
Learning Event Criteria for Awarding C.E.U. with A.C.S.I.
- The learning event prepares teachers for teaching in the Christian school.
- Participants must attend all activities as planned for the learning event.
- An outline for the learning event, statement of purpose, and objectives, and schedule given to all participants.
IACET REQUIREMENTS
One CEU is designated in unique ways for each of the provider organizations.
- I.A.C.E.T. designates a C.E.U as requiring at least 10 contact hours of participation in organized
continuing education/training experience under responsible, qualified direction and instruction.
A Contact Hour equals one 60 minute clock hour of interaction between learner and instructor
or learner and organized material which have been prepared to cause learning (distance learning program).
Learning Event Criteria for Awarding C.E.U. with I.A.C.E.T.
- Identification of Target Audience: Each learning event is planned in response to the identified
needs of a target audience.
- Learning Outcomes: There are clear and concise written
statements of intended learning outcomes based on identified needs for each continuing
education and training event.
- Instructional Personnel: Qualified personnel are involved in
planning and conducting each learning event. For C.E.U. approval, learners must be in an
organized, supervised setting with instruction or facilitator.
- Content/Instructional Methods: Content and instructional methods are appropriate for the learning outcomes
of each event.
What Learning Events Can Be Counted for both I.A.C.E.T. and A.C.S.I.
- Classroom or meeting session time led by instructor and/or discussion leader.
- Activities, in which a learner is engaged in a planned learning event in which learner's progress is
monitored and the learner receives feedback. (Examples include, but are not limited to, computer-assisted instruction, interactive video, web-based learning, and planned projects.)
- Field trips, projects and assignments which are an integral part of a learning event. Enrichment events with more than 6 hours of teaching time, such as the DEEPER STILL event, are now an approved by ACSI for a CEUs.
What Learning Events Can Not Be Counted for both I.A.C.E.T. and A.C.S.I.
- Unplanned, unsupervised, or non-sponsored learning events/studies. Sunday School, church
teaching, church attendance, church committee/team meetings.
- Entertainment/Recreation activities such as cultural performances, entertainment, or recreational
activities unless they are an integral part of a planned course.
- Learning events delivered through mass media (e.g. television, radio, newspaper) unless they are
an integral part of a planned course. Large meetings, conventions and exhibitions.
- Work experience.
- Individual, self-directed study or other form of independent study/learning experience, which is
not planned, directed, and supervised by a provider.
- A learning event under one hour.
