Resource Requirements
Every Christian Growth Study Plan course is supported by one or more resources produced or sponsored by a Southern Baptist entity. The guide for using the resources follows:
- Books and Plan Books (Print and Online Editions)--For individual study, read and complete the self-study guide found in the book. If a guide is not available, read and summarize the chapters. Show your completed work to your pastor or a church staff member or leader for him or her to sign your course credit request.
When a book is the resource for a conference that is 2.5 hours or more, attend the conference and read the book within a month of the conference. If the conference is less than 2.5 hours, read and summarize the chapters or complete the self-study guide.
- Magazines and Newsletters--Read at least one article in each issue for one year. Write a summary of your selected articles. Show your work to your pastor or a church staff member or leader for him or her to sign your course credit request.
- Electronic Media--A videotape or audiotape used in conjunction with a book study applies toward course credit with the book or workbook. When using a video or audiotape alone as a resource for earning course credit, complete the self-study guide that comes with the tape. Show your completed self-study guide to your pastor or a church staff member or leader for him or her to sign your course credit request.
- Conferences and Seminars--A person must participate in the entire conference or seminar, which needs to be 2.5 hours or more in length. If the conference time is less than 2.5 hours, the participant can use the book as the resource for the course instead of the conference (see "Books and Plan Books").
A conference or seminar must be sponsored by an SBC entity, state convention, or association. The conference or seminar must be based on a resource(s) produced by a Southern Baptist Convention entity.
To receive credit, the conference leader or a church leader needs to sign the credit request.
- Doing or Participation Credit--An increasing number of resources involve participants in some kind of action or project. The action needs to take 2.5 hours or longer to complete.
To receive credit, the participant writes a brief report of the experience(s) for a church leader to review with him or her. The church leader signs the credit request.
