Connecting Young Women with Your Women’s Ministry
Is your women’s ministry challenged by a lack of involvement from young females in your congregation? Some churches struggle to find ways to attract members of the younger crowd. In fact, many have established women’s ministries for that very reason. It’s typical to find programs for older women, stay-at-home moms, and other female groups, but some churches overlook offering a ministry specifically geared toward younger women. Fortunately, there are some ways to bridge the gap and keep young females connected to your women’s ministry.
Be Relevant
Too many women’s ministries deal with topics that aren’t relevant for the younger crowd of women. Find out what females are struggling with today. Offer ways to meet everyday needs and issues. A single, young female faces very different concerns than a 40-year-old mother of three.
Provide Options
Females who are 18 to 30 years old fall into different categories. Some may be single, some may be newlyweds, and others may be mothers. Grouping everyone into one category will not meet the needs of the young women in your church. Offer programs specifically geared for the different clusters within the group. Some women may want to be involved in a study that is geared for all ages and walks of life, while others may want to join a group that is comprised of just single women. Some females may want to be involved with a large group, while others prefer a more intimate setting. Providing options will help your ministry grow and meet the needs of the very women you’re trying to minister to.
Market It
Some young women may not be aware of all the programs available. Make sure you market your ministry well. Push those involved to do word-of-mouth advertising. Include a flyer of the women’s ministry in the church bulletin. Make a booth visible before and after the worship service. Think of ways to let the young women of your church know that there are programs offered just for them.
Offer Good Leadership
An effective leader can make all the difference for your women’s ministry to succeed. If you offer a group for single, young women then ask a single female to lead the program. Ensure that your leaders are capable and relevant to the groups they are in charge of. The leader needs to have a passion to reach out and minister to the particular group of women that she’s trying to lead. History has proven that leadership can make or break a group.
These are just a few ways to get more young females plugged into your women’s ministry. With hard work and lots of prayer, your ministry will grow and bless the women you’re trying to reach.
