Revised and Expanded Experiencing God is Now Available
Experiencing God has become one of the most popular Bible study resources ever published. And now this powerful resource has been revised and expanded. The new Experiencing God: Knowing and Doing the Will of God is now available.
Since 1990, God has used this study to invite people to join Him in what He is doing. While many people simply ask God to bless their plans, Experiencing God helps lead believers into a deeper love relationship, teaching them to pray to and hear from God, and to join with God in accomplishing what He purposes to do.
New features include DVD messages from authors Henry and Richard Blackaby and a new Unit 12 with lessons on experiencing God in your marriage, with your children, and in your marketplace. There are also new applications and stories - from Angola Prison inmates earning seminary degrees to the spiritual and economic rebirth of a poor Appalachian community.
Henry Blackaby originally wrote Experiencing God as a response to the numerous comments of people to whom he ministered. "[It] was my life message," he states in the Revised and Expanded edition's preface. "This is how I had pastored and guided God's people."
Eventually Blackaby put his message into writing, which became the original workbook, thanks to the encouragement of Avery Willis, an expert in adult discipleship training. Claude King, an Editor in Chief at LifeWay and co-author of The Mind of Christ, wrote the book's learning activities. That study was published in 1990.
Since then, the preface continues, "God has used this study to touch and change millions of lives and thousands of churches around the world." By 2000, Bible students had purchased three million copies of the book in 47 languages.
For the revised edition, author Henry Blackaby's son Richard, president of Blackaby Ministries International, has contributed new materials. He, his father, and King remark in the preface that they have been "overwhelmed by the response to the truths shared in 'Experiencing God'. So many lives have been radically changed - in prisons; in the military; and in all walks of life ... God has used these truths to affect people around the world, including leaders of courtiers, government officials, and diplomats. Hundreds of missionaries are on the fields of the world because of this study, and undress of others are now serving as pastors, evangelists, and faithful servants. Only heaven really knows how God has chosen to use Experiencing God."
The original workbook's wide acceptance led to many other Experiencing God resources:
