Setting Up the TeamKID Store
Looking at the scoreboard in the front of the activity books or on the folder, children can earn a maximum of 5 per week plus the bonus points. Of course they would earn more if you add some more such as wearing their TeamKID t-shirt or attending church. Children could earn a maximum of 219 stickers per 43 meetings (not including any categories you add). Few children will earn that many. Most will get between 40 and 60 percent.
The value of the prizes would be dependent on what each costs. You can assign a money value to each sticker. Some churches use a sticker value of $.03 each. Others use $.05 or $.10. So a prize that costs $.50 would mean that it would take 16 stickers to get if stickers are valued at $.03; 10 stickers for $.05; 5 stickers for $.10. As you set up the store, it is good to have a variety of prizes at different costs. Some children want to get something each time you open your store. Others like to save and get something more valuable. Also, be sure to have things that appeal to boys and things that appeal to girls.
Some things that churches have used are small notepads, pencils (We have TeamKID pencils.), special pens, balsa airplanes, zipper pulls, stickers, balls, cars, hats, TeamKID t-shirts, highlighters, Books of the Bible Bible markers. The list can go on and on. Churches buy things from Oriental Trading, Dollar Stores, Wal-Mart and other discount locations. Check with parents (if you do not have kids of your own) about things that kids are wanting. Some churches use candy and give prizes every week.
