Fast Food Notions

It’s so easy to stop by Wendy’s or Burger King for a fast meal. But it’s not as easy to stay healthy on the run. If you have to grab a quick bite, remember these tips to cut down on the fast-food fat:

1. Hold the mayo. You’ll save about 50 calories.
2. Kick the cola habit. Order water and save anywhere from 180 to 360 calories (plus about $1.50).
3. Share and share alike. Split your meal with a friend and consume half the calories.
4. Chuck the cheese. Order a plain hamburger and save about 50 calories.
5. Forget the fries. Opt for a side salad instead and save more than 100 calories.
6. Choose low-cal dressing. If you order a salad, save about 100 calories by choosing vinaigrette dressing.
7. Avoid “biggie” anything. Choose “junior” versions for big calorie cutbacks.
8. Go for the grilled. If you have a choice, choose grilled over fried and save about 100 calories.
9. Refuse refills. So what if they’re free? If another cola will cost you 180 calories, it’s not worth it. (See No. 2.)
10. Don’t eat from the bag. If you eat your meal while driving home, you won’t feel satisfied because you’ll be eating unconsciously. Wait until you get home, so you can consciously consume your calories.
