Motorcycle Rally Ride In Networks
We sometimes have requests of riders wanting to join others on their ride in. If you are willing for others to join you or your group as you ride to Ridgecrest, please email Bruce Aderhold at bruce.aderholt@lifeway.com the necessary information.
Being a Host Site (email the following information to bruce.aderholt@lifeway.com:
1. A definite departure place (would prefer the place be your church).
2. A definite departure time and stick to it. Others joining you will be depending on it.
3. Contact information, name, email, and phone number (preferably a cell phone), so that others may contact you to join your ride.
4. A general itinerary including general routes and planned stops. If overnight is required, provide hotel information so that others joining you can make their own reservations.
Joining a Host Site
1. Notify the host site that you would like to join up and ride with them.
2. Arrive early and be ready for “kickstands up” at the designated time. If you are late, the host site is not obligated to wait on you.
3. If something happens that changes your plans before the ride, notify the host site as soon as possible so that they will not be looking for you.
4. Once you join a Host Site group, stay with them, unless you have notified the Host Site contact in advance that you will be splitting off at a designated place. Attempting to get the group to change the itinerary to meet your schedule is inappropriate.
Safely Ride YOUR Ride
1. Each rider is responsible for the safe operating condition of his motorcycle. Make sure your vehicle is in good operating condition. For example, a bad tire could cause an accident on a group ride.
2. Carry appropriate riding gear for the conditions you expect to encounter and carry a first aid (trauma) kit and know how to use it.
3. Don’t allow peer pressure, pride, or stupidity push you beyond your comfort level.
4. Ride within your limits, as your ride may be in rather remote areas with limited emergency services.
5. Carry your trip itinerary and possibly a map. Know where the planned stops are if you need to fall back.
Be Positive, Avoid Criticism & Complaints
1. Not everyone will be happy with everything that happens on your trip. Weather and road conditions can affect the length of a riding day.
2. Motels do not always meet our expectations. Restaurants do not always serve the best food. The sun is not always in the best position for great photographs.
3. Remember, the host sites have done their very best to provide a memorable experience. Do everything possible to keep a positive attitude so this is an enjoyable experience for everyone. Oh yeah, be sure and show appreciation for the host site being willing to serve in this capacity.
