Reader Comments:

Spring 09 Issue BI, article,"Old Testament Burial Practices," contains repeated references to "internment" as the practice of burial of a body. This means confinement, imprisonment. The word needed is "interment", which truly means burial of a person. This offends my teaching sensibilities. Thanks for this opportunity to comment.

Musigran:

Wow! Good catch. I apologize for our use (several times!) of the wrong word. Internment does indeed apply to incarceration and interment to burial. The use of the wrong word was an honest error on our part. For that, I apologize. I hope that our mistake did not detract from the intent of the article - to explore ancient burial practices and how they differed in various cultures and ages.

Thanks for taking time to write. And again, I apologize for the error.

Sincerely,
G. B. Howell, Jr.
