Tips for Using TeamKID in Small Churches
You would like to use TeamKID, but you only have a few children in grades 1-6. Will it work for you?
The answer is yes. TeamKID is designed to be very flexible. For example, in the new series which releases in April, 2006, and which is called Count on Me, every meeting has at least one tournament game designed for small groups and a small area.
Often activities have margin notes with suggestions for adjusting the activity for a small group.
The rest of TeamKID will work just fine for all sizes of groups of children.
Here are some tips for adjusting TeamKID for smaller groups:
-
If there is a relay and there are enough kids for just one team, then compete against a clock rather than another team. Time the kids as they do the acitivty. Then have them repeat the activity and try to beat their time.
-
Even one or two children can make a team.
-
If in an activity or game a suggestion is made for giving one card or other object to a team, give more than one card if you have fewer teams. Or give one card or object to each child.
-
TeamKID is designed so children in grades 1–6 can be taught together.
-
If you don’t think an activity or game will work for your group, choose another with the same teaching message from 100 Action Games That Really Work CD-ROM, Vol. 1 or Vol. 2.
