Being a Witness in the Workplace

ATLANTA (BP)--Every believer lives with a divinely designed interdependence. We need others, and they need us. God has chosen to do things through His people while they serve Him together — things He would not otherwise do.

Christ said, "If any two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or more are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them." (Matt. 18:19-20). Read this slowly in faith and believing! Then apply this truth and live it out in your workplace.

Do the following with diligent intention:

1. Find other believers where you work.
2. Come together and agree to pray together.
3. Pray regularly and faithfully for your fellow workers, leaders, and any specific matters that God lays on your heart.
4. Keep a record of answers to prayer and bear witness to the goodness and faithfulness of God to others for their encouragement.
5. Always give a faithful witness to God for His glory and His name.

Times are desperate in our nation and our world, calling for extraordinary and prevailing prayer! Cry out to God together from your workplace for Him to be at work among you. You might look to Psalm 80:18-19: "Then we will not turn away from You; revive us, and we will call on Your name. Restore us, Lord God of Hosts; look on us with favor, and we will be saved."

When you pray together begin to look immediately for any ways that God may want you, together with others, to be the answer to your prayers. This is especially true when you are praying for the salvation of a co-worker or one of their family members.

I am constantly hearing of groups gathering together to pray in many workplaces across the nation — in courthouses, lawyers' offices, warehouses, schools, medical facilities, and countless places of work. They come together carefully and intentionally, and God is both guiding them and working through them to cause others to "see God's salvation" (Luke 3:6). We often think of causing people to "hear" God's salvation, and this is important. But, more importantly, God wants people to "see" His salvation. That is, He wants them to see Him working mightily through us in the workplace. May we together be the opportunity for others to see God's salvation as He works in us and through us, as we pray and work together in our workplaces.
