Do You Make the Most of Your Time?

Ephesians 5:15-16 tells us “be careful how you walk, not as unwise men, but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil.” To me, making the most of our time means to balance the demands of our personal, professional, and spiritual lives within our daily 24 hours. Some days run very smoothly, and other days seem impossible!
How do you rate with the following time management statements? Are your answers always, usually, sometimes, or never?
Most of my days begin in a calm fashion because I get up early enough to avoid rushing.
-
I begin my day spending time with the Lord in prayer and Bible reading.
-
I use a daily time-management technique (calendar, planner, PDA, to-do list, etc.), to keep track of what needs to be done and set priorities.
-
I am not late for appointments, work, or other commitments.
-
My assignments are completed on schedule.
-
I have some specific long-term goals (not just wishes) that I am working on consistently.
-
I do not keep shuffling and reorganizing the papers on my desk, but regularly go through and clean it off.
-
I use a filing system to keep track of needed information and paperwork. (This applies at home as well as at the office.)
-
I am not a habitual procrastinator, and I try to avoid the last-minute crisis mode.
-
I can juggle any responsibility that I have and don’t lose track of what I’m supposed to do and where I’m supposed to be. (I think “senior moments” are sometimes relevant here!)
My answers to these questions help me to focus on specific areas for improvement. I want to be a good steward of the gift of time God has given me.
